DataJournalism.com offers a platform for expert authors -- of all backgrounds -- to teach the community something new. Whether you're a seasoned data journalist, a J-school academic, or a data visualisation expert, we're interested in sharing your expertise.
But it’s not just about us! DataJournalism.com is the world’s largest data journalism learning community, with over 17500 members and 10.000 newsletter subscribers. By contributing, you'll have the unique opportunity to share your knowledge with thousands of people around the globe.
What we're looking for:
- High-quality and original: No one wants to read something they’ve already read before. We know that there’s a lot of data-related content out there -- and we’re not in the business of duplicating it. We’re looking for pitches that are original, strong, and didactic.
- Evergreen: At this stage, we’re only publishing two pieces per month, so our articles need to stand the test of time. That means no news items or articles about specific tools. Please don’t send us your press releases.
- Longform: Imagine if you knew nothing about your topic. It’d be hard to really learn it in just a few paragraphs. To provide real value, we want our Long Reads go into depth about the what, the why, and the how. And you’ve got between 2500 - 3500 words to do it.
So, are you up for it? Or do you have some more questions? Get in touch with our Data Editor, Tara Kelly, at [email protected].
And, yes, in case you were wondering -- we do offer a writing fee for your work.
